The latest name to be linked with a move to Newcastle United this summer is that of Ecuador striker Enner Valencia.

Valencia has been the star of Ecuador’s World Cup campaign so far, scoring three goals in his first two games and attracting interest. Newcastle are understood to be interested in signing the 25-year-old along with at least three other Premier League clubs.

The in-form front man currently plays in the Mexican league for Pachuca, where he has scored 18 goals in 23 games since joining from Ecuadorian side Emelec.

Pachuca vice-president Andres Fassi has conceded that his star man will likely leave Pachuca this summer after catching the eye in Ecuador colours.

Fassi has told Mexican ESPN that he is aware of Valencia’s qualities and is realistic about the situation his player is in. Offers have already been received for the striker but nothing will be sorted out until Valencia returns to Mexico when Ecuador’s World Cup concludes.
