According to reports, it appears that there could be a surprise omission from Newcastle United’s Premier League squad this season.

According to the Gazette, Jack Colback is set to be left out of Rafa Benitez’s plans and will be made available for transfer.

Colback, a boyhood Newcastle fan made headlines when he made the move from Sunderland to St James’ Park in 2014 and still has two years left on his current contract.  He was also left out of the friendly against Hellas Verona on Sunday.

Benitez knows that he has to make room for new signings, which he admits himself he has been frustrated with the transfer activity.

Others who have been told that their future lies away from Newcastle include Tim Krul, Achraf Lazaar and Emmanuel Riviere.

It’s frustrating that we haven’t managed to do all of our transfer business before the first game of the season on Sunday against Spurs – another side who have been shy with the transfer cheque book this summer.

If we’re to have a good season, we need some proven Premier League additions.  Not unproven Frenchmen or young players with potential.  I feel sorry for Rafa, sort it out Ashley!
