Papiss Cisse has been hit with a three-game ban after accepting an FA charge for violent conduct.

The Senegal striker clashed with Everton’s Seamus Coleman during Newcastle’s 3-2 victory over the Toffees on Sunday afternoon.

Cisse decided not to appeal the charge, meaning he will now miss his sides’ New Year’s Day clash with Burnley as well as the trips to Leicester and Chelsea.

The 29-year-old is due to link up with his country for the African Nations Cup during January, meaning it will be some time before Newcastle can call upon their leading striker again.
