Newcastle United are preparing themselves for more offers for midfielder Cheick Tiote, after they turned one down earlier this month.

Arsenal were linked with a move for the Ivory Coast international but the bid reportedly came in from a Russian side and was somewhere in the region of £8m.

The 28-year-old could be tempted into leaving Newcastle and Toon chiefs are already lining up replacements should the former FC Twente man go. One name mentioned is Barcelona midfielder Alex Song, who could be available after falling out of favour at the Nou Camp.

Newcastle are holding out for a fee closer to £14m for their vice-captain but still hope he will stay after signing a six-year contract in 2011.
