Yohan Cabaye has urged the Newcastle board to hold onto the club’s star players during the current transfer window.

The French midfielder was one of our star players during the last campaign along with the likes of Demba Ba – who Cabaye has singled out to signal the importance of the big striker remaining at the Toon.

Graham Carr and Alan Pardew have done a great job in bringing in some key players over the past season and we should be looking to attract a few more rather than cash in.

“Demba scored so many goals for us so it’s going to be important to keep him – and keep all the big players,” said the France international.

“I hope the board are going to do the right things to keep them.

“I don’t know if we can go higher than last season, but we have to keep doing the right thing.”

Call me old fashioned, but I think I preferred things when the Board told players what to do rather than the other way round……
