Newcastle United have finally completed the signing of a full-back, just in time for the new Premier League season. 23-year old Vurnon Anita joins from Ajax and has signed a 5-year deal with the Magpies and should be involved in the new season curtain raiser on Saturday against Tottenham.
Anita, will be most likely to fill the left-back position, with Davide Santon and Danny Simpson vying for the right-back slot in Alan Pardew’s first XI. The signing comes after the deal between Newcastle and Lille star Mathieu Debuchy seemingly broke down over the two clubs’ failure to agree a fee for the 26-year old.
The fee for the 5’6” Dutch international is believed to be in the region of £6m. Pardew describes the fleet-footed new signing as “exceptionally talented” and “with excellent technical ability”. Fans at St James’ Park will be sure to see Anita getting forward down the left wing with regularity, as he loves to attack and will help share the load with Jonas Gutierrez.
What do you think of the signing of Anita? Have you seen him play before? Have your say!

He has said he has been told he will primarily be used as a defensive midfielder

Watched him the other night against AZ and he was always available. Looks like he never wants to waste a ball and doesn't seem tomake a bad pass. He will have bad days like the rest of us, but lets hope theyr'e always on a Monday.

Over the moon about the purchase of Vurnon Anita.

This guy is the real deal, a technically gifted holding midfield general who will simply make us a far better team than last season by releasing Cabaye to run riot.

Still Need a CB like Douglas, RB – Debuchy, LB – Erik Pieters and a striker and then I truly believe Champions league is a possibility.
