If you were in Alan Pardew’s shoes tomorrow afternoon, who would you pick for the game against Sunderland? Does Shola Ameobi start up front with his amazing mackem slaying record? Does captain Coloccini come back into the side? Leave a comment below and have your say!

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Simpson S. Taylor Coloccini Santon

Ben Arfa Tiote Cabaye Gutierrez

Ba Cisse

I’d obviously go full strength to take the mackems apart as best as possible tomorrow. Coloccini in defence tightens things up no end and Krul behind him ensures we have a very competent back five. Cabaye is back in midfield after a stomach bug and should be able to pull the strings against a side lacking the hacking attempts of Lee Cattermole, and Cheick Tiote will likely hurt anyone who comes within five yards of him.

Now for the big one, I’d stick with Cisse and Ba up front and bring Shola off the bench with half an hour to go to give him time to affect the game more. His bullish play and scoring record genuinely frightens the Sunderland defence, but I believe he’s better coming off the bench when defences are slightly down to carry on his excellent record.
