Former Charlton Athletic loanee Zheng Zhi has claimed that Newcastle United and Birmingham City are interested in bringing him back to the Premiership in another loan deal.

The 26-year-old is currently playing his football for Shandong Luneng, but told reporters in Kuala Lumpur last week that he is interested in a move back to England.

“At present, two English teams are keen on signing me. They are Newcastle United and Birmingham City,” he said.

“Newcastle are a big club, so it is exciting if I could play for them.”
